Paris Lakshmi, as the name denotes is a Paris born dancer (Myriam Sophia Lakshmi Quinio )who took to ballet as well as contemporary dance at a very young age.
She got the interest in Indian culture from her parents. Her parents love for Indian art named her Lakshmi. For the first time, when Yves Quinio and his family visited India, Lakshmi was only 5 year old. Lakshmi was influenced by the Indian culture, music and dance and she expressed her desire to learn Bharatanatyam dance. She started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 9. Her teachers were dancer Armelle Choquard, dancer and choreographer Dominique Delorme, Dr. Sucheta Chapekar and Padma Subrahmanyam. Paris Lakshmi married to famous Kathakali artist Pallipuram Sunil in the year 2012.Now they run a Kathakali and Bharatanatyam training center at Vaikom in Kerala.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs Ragesh..... Taking photographs during a performance is a difficult task, especially when you are not the "official" photographer. Accessibility is restricted and one would not dare to move around too much creating a diversion of attention. With the limited resources, you've done amazingly well..Well, more is expected though...Keep up the good work.
